Christian Youth In Action®

Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) is a short-term, summer ministry dedicated to the training and development of committed Christians (ages 12 through college) who want to be equipped to reach children for Christ. By completing the training program, you will be certified by Child Evangelism Fellowship to teach children and minister effectively to your neighbors, friends and relatives. After training, CYIA missionaries are given the opportunity to put their skills into practice by teaching children in their community through our summer programs.

Levels of Training

Before training, students are placed at a training level that fits their needs. Often this is determined by age, years of experience in CEF ministry, and spiritual maturity. The staff and student together determine which training level is appropriate for the individual.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is involved in the training?

You will receive individual and group instruction from some of the most exciting, enthusiastic, and godly leaders of Child Evangelism Fellowship, NC. These instructors will equip you to teach and counsel boys and girls to receive Christ. You will be placed in an evaluation group under one of these staff members with 2-3 other students and asked to practice presenting your part of club in front of your small group to receive guidance and encouragement.

What is the focus of the training?

Your training will be focused on preparing you to teach 5-Day Clubs ® . These are neighborhood Bible clubs for children held in various locations such as community centers, churches and backyards for one hour a day for five consecutive days during the summer. Our summer missionaries teach exciting Bible lessons and true missionary stories. These clubs also include: singing, memorizing verses, games, and more fun ways to share the Gospel.

What are the benefits of CYIA?

As a result of summer missionaries teaching God's Word:

  • Boys and Girls are reached with the Gospel of Christ.

  • Children's lives are changed.

  • Your skills will sharpen in the areas of communication, teamwork, endurance, responsibility, and self-confidence.

  • Your faith and vision will grow deeper.

  • You will build new friendships that can last a lifetime.

  • You will build experience for service in your own local church, school or vocation.

What is the training process like?

Pre-training is held locally prior to training camp to ensure that the students are well prepared for the more intensive week of study.

Then for 9 consecutive days, students from across the state of NC gather in a central location. Here the students are able to study with their peers and work closely with their evaluators to refine the skills they will need for the remainder of the summer. Training camp is filled with worshipful chapel time, discipleship and encouragement, and fun games and activities.
